RESTON, VIRGINIA, November 14, 2007 – NRECA today received its second CARE (Companies As Responsive Employers) Award at the 15th Annual CARE event, sponsored by Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS).

The CARE Awards program honors Northern Virginia companies offering unique programs to benefit employees, their families and the local community. NVFS evaluates company policies and benefits, evaluating their ease of utilization, as well as company culture and philosophy.

During the Awards breakfast, George W. Lane III, the Chair of the CARE Advisory Committee, cited an array of NRECA programs and incentives such as: flexible working time, pension plan and investment counseling, commuter benefits, education assistance, and the company’s focus on wellness with its free fitness facility, weight management and smoking cessation programs. These programs demonstrate NRECA’s commitment to understanding, meeting and advancing the needs of its employees.

Developed by NVFS and area business leaders, the CARE Awards have been bestowed on local companies excelling workplace change and innovation since 1993.

NRECA is the national service organization that represents the nation’s more than 900 private, not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 40 million people in 47 states.
