More than 6,000 key staff and locally-elected directors from the nation’s cooperative electric utilities meet in Atlanta, Georgia, to set the 2010 policy agenda for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). TechAdvantage® 2010 Expo, NRECA’s trade show, opens Friday, Feb. 12.
On Monday, Feb. 15, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of rural electrification, film and television actor Edward Asner opens the General Session as President Franklin D. Roosevelt. NRECA CEO Glenn English delivers his “Report to the Membership” and current affairs analyst David Gergen delivers the keynote address: “Eyewitness to Power: Leadershipin America.”
On Tuesday, Feb. 16, former president of Shell Oil Company and founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy, John Hofmeister, speaks about his mission to engage the public on the issues of energy and the environment to bring about solutions that are non-political, non-commercial and non-partisan. Steve Forbes, the chairman and CEO of Forbes Inc., addresses the Cooperative Finance Corporation.
On Wednesday, Feb. 18, John Walsh, host of the nation’s longest-running prime-time program and number-one crime-fighting show, America’s Most Wanted, closes the 2010 Annual Meeting with a message about turning the pain of his son’s death into a lifelong quest to helpothers.
General Sessions are held at Georgia World Congress Center. Newsroom facilities will be staffed and available from Noon on Sunday, Feb. 14 to Noon on Feb. 17, in Room C110 of the Georgia World Congress Center.

NRECA represents the nation's electric cooperative utilities, which serve more than 42 million people in 47 states. More than 6,000 people are expected at the association’s Annual Meeting during which they will set NRECA's legislative and organizational agenda for 2010. In addition to considering and acting upon policy resolutions, delegates receive reports from NRECA officials, hear addresses by key public figures, and attend panel sessions on major issues affecting electric cooperatives and their consumer-owners.
